Sepang Under Siege By Torrential Rainstorm

by chingwei on Apr.06, 2009, under F1

Well, well. Another unprecedented GP. The last topsy-turvy Malaysian GP as far as I can remember was back in 2001. Almost everyone spun off the track including Michael & Rubbens in team Ferrari. It was total chaos back then thanks to the heavy rainstorm during the middle of the race.

Putting the twilight schedule aside, the storm was horrible yesterday. Visibility was very low. Drivers were cruising on second gear, at mere 20kmph & still having problems navigating. The F1 cars were not maximised to their fullest potential. At times, I thought I was watching F1 Powerboat Racing instead.

This is Malaysia. Welcome to Malaysia. Could this be a bad omen?

Golden Brawns

They were good at testing. They showed exceptionally good times during testing & they managed to translate that to thier first GP win for Brawn GP team. Fantastic job for the whole management crew that managed to turn the team around that fast. They stunned other teams. The rest are seeing stars now.

Like what I said in the previous comment, I bet the dude who has decided to sell off the team will kick himself/herself now.

Formula One 2009 Season

by chingwei on Mar.26, 2009, under F1, Life Documentary

I’m excited. The Formula One 2009 season is starting this weekend in Melbourne. Without doubts, I would be watching the inaugural race of the season, local time 2PM.

Who is going to take the championship this year? Hamilton, Räikkönen, Rosberg, Chan?

Wait a minute. Who is Chan? Oh ya, a friend with his co-driver a.k.a his wife who is not a really fan of motor racing but he was indeed like one this very morning on the expressway with the latest PFC9455 spec car. He overtook quite a number of cars then slotted in behind me. We both acknowledged each other & less than 30 seconds, he overtook me & a few more cars in front. Way the go. Cross the chequred flag, my friend.

Alonso Back To Renault

by chingwei on Dec.11, 2007, under F1

Spaniard Alonso won both his titles with the French manufacturer in 2005 and 2006 before joining McLaren. He has won 19 races, with his first at the wheel of a Renault in 2003.

Piquet, whose father and namesake was a triple champion in the 1980s, was test driver this season after finishing runner-up to Britain’s Lewis Hamilton in the 2006 GP2 feeder series.

“The decision hasn’t been an easy one to make,” 26-year-old Alonso said after signing a two-year contract with an option on a third.

“I would like to thank all the other teams for their interest to have me work with them.

“I chose Renault in the end considering their commitment to the sport and because of their strong track record.”

Alonso left Renault at the end of last year for McLaren but split with the Mercedes-powered team last month after falling out with senior management over their refusal to give him preferential treatment over Hamilton.
